Brussels has proposed delaying the introduction of tariffs on electrical car gross sales between the UK and EU by three years, agreeing to a request from London backed by the automotive trade.
The European Fee will on Wednesday approve the plan, officers conversant in its pondering instructed the Monetary Instances. The 27 member states should then agree, with the overwhelming majority in favour.
The British authorities, backed by carmakers from throughout Europe, had sought the deferral of the post-Brexit tariff, which it argued would heap extreme prices on to the trade from 2024 to 2027.
